Activity
The corridors are busy areas in the healthcare building, and sound carry along their length and into adjoining rooms. Patients, visitors and staff move from one place to another, often with beds, medical equipment and other supplies.
To be able to hear patients and monitoring equipment doors are kept open. Corridors are also used as waiting rooms and patients may temporarily be placed here. Corridors are noisy places, yet there is great need for communication. The stressful noise must therefore be restricted as far as possible.
Room acoustics
Reduce sound levels
Due to all activities in the corridor, it is amongst the noisiest areas in a hospital. To reduce the high sound levels a high performance sound absorbing ceiling plus additional wall panels are needed.
Prevent sound spreading
Due to the shape of corridors, sound travels extremely fast and affects all rooms that are directly connected to the corridor. Prevention of sound spreading is most effective by using a class A sound absorbing ceiling and wall panels to avoid flutter echoes.
