The cellular office solution is suitable for people that need more concentration than communication in their day-to-day work. The increase of IT-solutions has meant that fewer binders and shelves are used, resulting in "harder" cellular offices from an acoustical point of view. To support concentration, it is important to reduce the impact of sounds created in the room itself, such as sounds from PCs, ventilation systems and printers, as they create monotonous sounds that can be tiring after a a period of time.

Room Acoustics

Walls between cellular offices must be sound insulated to minimise room-to-room noise and achieve the most advantageous environment for work concentration. A ceiling with high sound absorption (class A) is recommended to optimise the sound environment, making it easier for workers to stay focused and concentrate on the task at hand. In scarcely furnished cellular offices, wall-to-wall sound reflection can sometimes occur. This can be avoided by using sound diffusing objects, such as bookshelves, or even better: by installing a sound absorbing element on one of the walls.
