Activity
Office corridors are often so much more than a mere link between different parts of a building. They generally also serve as meeting rooms and coffee break areas. Noisy printers, copy machines and servers are also often placed in this type of space. Numerous spontaneous meetings take place in corridors. Nevertheless, the chatter and noise must not disturb activities in the adjacent areas.
Room Acoustics
Considering the generally high amount of traffic and wear, it is not surprising that hard floors and wall surfaces are common in corridors. However, these types of materials often cause disturbing footstep noise and the parallel walls of a corridor can also create sound reflections. High performing sound absorbers on ceilings and walls bring many advantages, including reduction in sound levels and propagation, a significant benefit in corridors which have a tendency to carry sound along their length and into adjoining rooms.
