Handling

The Ecophon ceiling system is lightweight and therefore extremely undemanding in terms of transportation, handling and installation. The structure of glass wool is such that the tiles have excellent mechanical properties relative to their weight. This means that Ecophon sound absorbers are stable and can withstand handling, but are nonetheless pliable and very easy to work with. Of course, the panels can withstand normal handling during installation, but due care should be taken to avoid breaking or damaging the edges and surface.

It is worth bearing in mind that ceiling products are visible parts of the interior and should be regarded as part of the furniture. Cartons containing panels and grids must be handled according to the instructions on the labels, such as 'Handle with Care', 'This Side Up', and so on. The cartons must be protected against rain and moisture and therefore should not be stored outside.

Tools and accessories

In order to secure a good ceiling system it is imperative that you use well designed installation tools and accessories. The Connect product range offers a vast number of accessories for a variety of different needs. Below are some examples of the installation tools and accessories offered by Ecophon:

A uniquely designed laser tool for securing a perpendicular grid system.
Edge tools for creating edges on perimeter tiles.
Inspection panels for ceilings with non-demountable tiles or when frequent access is needed.
Light fitting clips for installation of uplights, signs, etc.

Cutting and resealing

When it is necessary to cut Ecophon panels, edges can be resealed using Connect Edge sealant or with Connect Tape applicator, using one of the 3 different Connect Sealing tapes with widths for 15mm, 20mm or 40mm panels. Connect Tape applicator is one of the fastest and most efficient ways to reseal Ecophon tiles or panels. Ecophon Hygiene products should be sealed to retain their integrity and to be more resistant to moisture during cleaning. Any penetrations for pipes and services in the panels should be treated in the same manner. Use sealant to seal between cut edges and installations to prevent water entering the void. When cutting Hygiene Advance panels use Connect Tape Hygiene Advance to reseal the panels.
