Most Ecophon sound absorbers have a painted surface and painted edges. On some products glue is used to attach fabrics to the surface. The coatings and adhesives used are water-based and therefore contain only a minimum of organic solvents, comparable to ordinary wallpaper paste.

This contributes to a safe working environment in our own production plants, and also to a zero level regarding hazardous waste. In order to keep the glass wool fibres together, the products contain a binding agent. The binding agent is a type of bakelite, a tried and tested thermosetting plastic with low emissions.
